Review of “Cosplay Collection”:

We enjoy visiting Hong Kong cosplay websites, so we can keep up on the latest trends. The young adults in Hong Kong seem to relish the opportunity to cosplay with their friends at large conventions, such as the Comic World. Luckily, we were able to get a copy of "Cosplay Collection" into our reference collection. First, we were impressed by the quality of photography. There is almost always one full length image, then several detail shots of each costume. The cosplayers are well lighted and care is taken to promote their costumes. What a concept! Pretty faces are nice, however, we want to see costumes! Some personal data is provided on the cosplayers (fan name, age), including how much they spent on their costumes. One may be surprised at how much Hong Kong cosplayers invest in their hobby. Second, we like variety. It's good to see different types of costumes, especially ones that exhibit strong craftsmanship. Two of our personal favorites are Lulu (Final Fantasy X) and Alucard (Castlevania of the Night). It is clearly apparent by the percentage of images in "Cosplay Collection", that J-Rock is hugely popular in Hong Kong, and many cosplayers idolize their favorite performers. There are several flattering recreations of Malice Mizer and Dir en Grey characters to name a few. Third, "Cosplay Collection" provides numerous website listings of Hong Kong cosplayers. Therefore, finding websites is much easier with the URL clearly printed and a front page image to match up. A brief description of each website is provided, so if you're looking for a specific type of cosplay or events... it's just a mouse click away. Also, there is a colorful section of original Comic World illustrations. We highly recommend "Cosplay Collection" for a glimpse into the exciting world of Hong Kong cosplay.
